"I always wanted to live a man's life in a woman's body." That is the quote that was printed at the top of Diane von Furstenberg's notes during New York Fashion Week, and now we all know why. After watching DVF's Fall 2010 collection float down the runway, it is apparent that the infamous designer, known for her very feminine designs, has finally taken a dive into the world of men's suiting for women. DVF's first look showcased her ability to succeed at about just anything she takes on, killing a beautifully tailored heather grey wool felted pantsuit with a double-breasted jacket, and paired with an amazing chiffon rosette-embellished bolero over the blazer. She continued the menswear suiting look, taking it into evening with feminine a flirty dress topped with a black tuxedo blazer. The same idea appeared again and again, each time a little different than the last, and so refreshing!
Another style Diane is known for are her fantastic use of bright and fun prints, which she definitely showcased in all shapes and forms in this show. Metallic, Boho, Embellishments, and lots of fabulous sweater dressing were among the other trends that DVF showed, and that will no doubt be showing up all over the magazines and stores this coming Fall. We can't wait to try out all of these looks once the Autumn weather comes around! If this is what it looks like to live a man's life in a woman's body, then a man's life we will lead for fall 2010!
