According to New York Magazine, Chanel Fine Jewelry has commissioned this sword in honor of Christie's acceptance into the Académie des Beaux-Arts, France's highest cultural distinction. More of a display piece than a defense tool, the sabre features florals in enamel, wood, shagreen and rock crystal...how fabulous is that?! If the conductor were to ever use his Chanel as a weapon, that poor person would certainly be going down in style.
There's no doubt that William will look very chic and stylish, donning his one-of-a-kind, custom Chanel sword on his belt (or laying it for all to drool at in his glass case). And, by the way, the Academician's coat which the inductees wear is tailored by Christian Laxroix himself and embroidered by Francois Lesage. Cutting-edge fashion?? Yes, I think so.
