Fashion guru Oscar de la Renta showed his Pre-Fall 2011 collection today, and it was nothing if not an exercise in diversity. The designer sent down the runway everything from his signature conservative skirt suits to a pair of leather leggings, paired with a chinchilla-trimmed vest.

The pieces themselves seemed to be beautiful contradictions-in-motion as well. The second look, a skirt suit and matching chiffon blouse in shocking pink, had an Elle Woods-like irony to it, implying that being all business can be fun at the same time.

Indeed, de la Renta played with color throughout the rest of the collection as well. The same shade of pink made another appearance in the form of an off-the-shoulder column dress, as well as around the waist of a low-cut, sequined charcoal gray gown. Other vibrant colors, such as kelly green and poppy red, balanced out the grays and blacks of the rest of the collection.

The finale of the show, however, was fit for a queen, as de la Renta sent out three regal-looking gowns in shades of powder blue and baby pink.
