The boyfriend of 33-year-old swimwear designer Sylvie Cachay has been taken into police custody after Cachay's body was found submerged in a bathtub in a New York hotel early Thursday morning.
24-year-old Nicholas Brooks was taken in for questioning Thursday and arrested today. He has not yet been charged with murder, as police are waiting for a coroner's report naming murder as the official cause of death.
Cachay was discovered face up in the bathtub of her room at New York's SoHo House Hotel around 3 a.m. Thursday after hotel staff received reports that the ceiling in the room below Cachay's was leaking. Cachay was found wearing only a sweater and underwear and had marks on her neck and a bite mark on her hand.
Cachay and Brooks and been dating for about 6 months. Cachay's friends described brooks as "erratic" to investigators. Brooks claimed he left the room to get drinks with a friend, and when he returned to the hotel, there were police at his room.
