The Kardashian Empire: How the First Family of Television Made $65 Million Last Year

Love them or hate them, the Kardashians are a money-making machine, and the family doesn't show any sign of slowing down.

The oft-noted "First Family" of television raked in $65 million last year, which - according to The Hollywood Reporter's new article, - is more than Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise, and Sandra Bullock pulled in combined.

Those who are quick to judge the Kardashians complain how ludicrous it is for a family with arguably little talent - besides a hell of a mind for marketing and PR - to command three shows on E! and a product empire that boasts everything from books to perfume to diet supplements to sneakers - and everything in between.

Kris, the matriarch, is quick to boast that the seemingly normal family - if you discount the gorgeous looks and famous ties - is relatable, which is the appeal for most Americans.

"We’re just this big family with a lot of drama and a lot of issues, and there’s someone here for everyone to relate to."

Take into account that the Kardashians have a combined 13 million Twitter followers, are in talks with E! to launch two new reality shows (one following Khloe and husband Lamar, the other focusing on Kourtney and boyfriend Scott), and will be the face of the first "celebrity destination" store at the Mirage Las Vegas and you have a formula that just won't quit.
