The History Channel recently announced that it has cancelled plans to air a controversial miniseries on the Kennedy family.
The historical fiction miniseries, which was to star Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy and Greg Kinnear as President John F. Kennedy, attracted plenty of criticism. Theodore Sorenson, administration aide during JFK’s presidency, has spoken out against the show, calling the script inaccurate.
But even though “The Kennedys” will not air on History Channel, it will likely be aired in other parts of the world, since History does not have full control over the rights, which have already been sold to other networks.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, History released a statement yesterday about their decision, saying, “We have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand.”
Readers, do you think History made the right call in pulling the plug on the show? Or were you looking forward to watching it?
