Shake up at W

After Patrick McCarthy stepped down as Editor in Chief of W Magazine last week, the fashion world has been buzzing with rumors and front runners of who would be the magazine's next editor in chief. Condé Nast spokeswoman, Maurie Perl confirmed this morning that Stephano Tonchi would be the next editor in chief.

Stephano Tonchi comes directly from being the Editor in Chief of T:New York Times Style Magazine, but has also worked as an editor at Esquire, and other Condé Nast publications' Self and L'Uomo Vogue. There has been no word yet whether their will be a shake up in staff at W with the arrival of Mr. Tonchi or who T plans to make their next Editor in Cheif.

There has been a lot of speculation lately whether the high fashion publication business will survive with the declining advertisement sales as more companies shift to online advertising. Our bet at MSMPR24seven.com is that Condé Nast has a bright future with Anna Wintour and Stephano Tonchi running two of its top fashion magazines. We are excited to see how W will grow and change with the arrival of Mr. Tonchi. His first day is April 12th, so get ready!

What do you think of the hiring? Did Condé Nast and W make the right choice?
